About SCIF
The Santa Cruz Investment Fund (SCIF) is a student-run investment organization at the University of California, Santa Cruz dedicated to providing hands-on, real-world experience in public markets investing. SCIF manages real capital through a long-only, fundamental, research-driven equity strategy, with the objective of growing assets under management while developing the next generation of finance leaders.
Members work in sector-focused teams to source ideas, conduct deep fundamental research, and present investment theses through professional-grade stock pitch reports and investment committee discussions. Through this process, analysts gain practical exposure to valuation, financial modeling, portfolio decision-making, and industry specialization.
SCIF was founded to expand UCSC’s presence in finance, create a selective and collaborative community for students interested in investing, and bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. The fund emphasizes merit-based recruitment, intellectual rigor, and mentorship, preparing members for careers across investment banking, asset management, private equity, and related fields.
